You. They Need You.
"The single most common factor for children who develop resilience is at least one stable and committed relationship with a supportive parent, caregiver or other adult."⠀
-Havard University, Center on the Developing Child⠀
⠀
I've studied resilience for almost 10 years now and have researched the work of experts like Dr. Emmy Werner, Dr. Julius Siegel, Dr. Robert Brooks and Dr. Kenneth Ginsburg. All of the data gained from longitudinal studies conducted have this one resiliency building block in common.⠀
⠀
What does your child or teen need from you in order to develop resiliency through the COVID-19 pandemic and all of the other many challenges they are sure to face in life?⠀
⠀
YOU. They need you.⠀
⠀
They don't need you to be perfect. They don't need you to make gourmet meals, or keep your house immaculately clean. They don't need you to be a Pinterest mom or have all the answers to life's questions.⠀
⠀
YOU. They just need to know they can count on you to be there when they need it.⠀
⠀
Take heart friends. Even if if you are struggling right now with homeschooling, or worrying too much, or feeling like you aren't doing enough for them and just can't keep up with everything.⠀
⠀
They just need YOU. They will be ok and so will you.⠀
⠀
You've got this, friends! Sending you all cheering vibes ⠀
